“Hello…is anyone home?”. I know that’s what you probably asked yourself as I have been MIA from the blogosphere for a minute. Well I’m back, exclusively on Sundays. This is my baby, and I missed it! Trying to juggle work and devoting time to blogging has been hard, but I will be a regular every Sunday as I “dish”(no pun intended) on what’s been good in my world of food that week. I’ll be sharing recipes, tips, updating a few blogs, and even bringing back a few series like “Food is Medicine.” Oooo, I got some good stuff to share…
Speaking of good stuff, I was in my beloved Earth Fare this morning picking up a few things to prepare for dinner (which will consist of beef short ribs reduced in red wine, vegetable medley, buttered rice, and homemade peach cobbler…hungry yet?). when I was made aware of a promotion going on for ice cream. “Try the vanilla cinnamon,” the clerk hollered as I ran to grab a pint of ice cream. When I asked what does it taste like, she said, “Like heaven! Just picture cinnamon roll in ice cream form.” Well, since I do want to go to “heaven,” both figuratively and physically, and wouldn’t mind the idea of having cinnamon rolls while I’m there, I had to oblige. Lol! She opened a pint to put on display and let me taste, and I’m telling you, it took me there. It is ice cream in it’s purest vanilla form with the Vietnamese cinnamon bringing out the essence of what you get when you smell sweet cinnamon. I’ve never experienced cinnamon this way.
My mind then went into over drive on how to indulge this ice cream. Maybe I’ll scoop some over my warm peach cobbler? Check! Or fill 2 scoops in a glass and pour over with Virgil’s root beer to make an over the top float? Double check! As the flavor of cinnamon lingered on my tongue, I thought about how dogs get excited and start licking your face if they smell you’ve just eaten something good, and thought…maybe I’ll give my husband a spoonful to taste and then give him a bunch of passionate kisses to get that flavor back… Lol! Ok, maybe that was a little too outlandish. 😉
Anyway, when I find a good thing, I get super excited and like to share. This is my new favorite ice cream, yep, even better than Graeter’s, in my humble opinion. I can’t wait to sit down to dinner as I have this, along with that peach cobbler to look forward to for dessert. Just thinking, maybe this ice cream pooled under the peach cobbler as a glaze would be even better. Hmmmm… I’ll get back to you on that.
See you next Sunday. Until then, run, don’t walk, and get you some. You deserve it, with your sweet self. 🙂
