Whole, or “holes” in your food?!

I will get straight to the point – with no chaser.  Eating whole foods is the only way to go to be nutritionally sound in your diet.  It simply means eating all natural dairy, meats, vegetables, and fruits that are bought as they are found in nature.  Have we become so accustomed to short cuts that we have short changed our own health with instant, boxed, prepackaged foods?  The real truth is good food takes time.  You want mashed potatoes?  Skip the instant version and make them from scratch with whole foods – potatoes, butter, and milk. Want spaghetti sauce?  Just a few simple ingredients simmered together will yield the best tasting sauce no bottled version can rival.  You ask, where do I start?  Start by shopping the “perimeter” of the store – that’s where you will find the four basic whole food sections – dairy, meats, and fresh produce of fruits and vegetables.    Then make sure you read the labels and are buying “all-natural” or “organic” with no added ingredients or preservatives.  Your body will thank you as it assimilates and breaks down natural foods as it will be less taxing on it to do so, not to mention your taste buds will sing and only acquire a taste for the real thing.  That’s what I do everyday at my home, prepare wholesome meals using whole food ingredients.  Start simple, be creative, and watch how your dishes will sing!
